At a launch event, Huawei presented the Nova 5 Pro, Nova 5, Nova 5i, and MediaPad M6. The Huawei Nova 5 Pro is the premium device of the Nova-series and sports a full HD+ OLED display, up to 256GB internal storage and four camera sensors on the rear. The AMOLED display has an integrated under-display fingerprint sensor. Optically, the rear is an eye-catcher with a 3D holographic effect. The smartphone runs EMUI 9.1, based on Android 9 Pie OS. The phone packs a 3500mAh battery supporting 40W Quick Charge technology.
The Nova 5 Pro sports a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with HD+ resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels). Under the hood, the device features a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC flagship chipset. The processor is complemented by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The internal storage can be further expanded by up to 256GB with a Huawei NM memory card. The smartphones also support GPU Turbo 3.0 and on top of that, Huawei has announced a Joy Con-style controller which can be attached to the smartphone for intensive gameplay experience.
Like the Huawei Nova 5, the Pro-version comes with a quad-camera setup on the back. The rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens, a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera located inside the waterdrop notch for crystal clear selfies and video calls. The lens has a f/2.0 aperture. The cameras of the Huawei Nova 5 Pro outperform its competitors by offering more light in dim-lit conditions.
The Huawei Nova 5 Pro is equipped with a non-removable 3,500mAh battery and supports 40W fast charging, which will charge the phone to up to 85% in just half an hour via USB Type-C 2.0 port. Other features include Bluetooth 5.0, BLE, SBC, AAC and HWA HD audio. Further connectivity options on board the Nova 5 Pro are 4G LTE, dual band Wi-Fi and for positioning GPS, GLONASS and Beidou. The Huawei Nova 5 Pro runs on EMUI based on Android 9 Pie. The Android device is available in a creative selection of gradient colors: Dilemma Forest (Green), Midsummer Purple, Bright Black and Coral Orange.
