The ZenFone 3 Zoom (or ZenFone Zoom S) was named after its camera and the built-in dual camera reminds strongly of the iPhone 7 Plus. The second lens of the dual camera has a 59mm lens with 2.3x optical zoom. The 5.5-inch smartphone has 128 Gbytes of memory, a 5000mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 625 with eight cores.
The 5.5-inch display is an AMOLED with high brightness (500 cd / m2) and full-HD resolution with 1920 × 1080 pixels. The touch screen and the display are additionally protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 mid-class processor has eight cores and a clock speed of 2 GHz. In the high-end variant, 4 GB of memory and 128 GB of main memory are on board. The internal memory can also be expanded by microSD card by a remarkable 2 terabytes (TB).
The two cameras on the back have a different focal length. The normal lens has a focal length of 25 mm and as a sensor the comparatively large Sony IMX362 with 12 megapixels and optical stabilizer. The second camera has a 59mm lens, with 2.3x optical zoom, and also 12 megapixels. A laser AF and the usual electronic phase AF (TriTech+) are used for focusing. In addition, the blur effect (bokeh) can be set on request.
