Oppo’s mid-range A-series smartphones have been relatively popular. The latest model has a lot in common with the R15, such as the new MediaTek Helio P60 SoC, a high-resolution camera, and of course, a notch. Instead of the usual metal back panel, Oppo is using an all-plastic body. So the phone is very light at just 159g.
On the front, we have a 6.2-inch In-Cell LTPS display with a resolution of 1080x2280 pixels. Due to the notch at the top of the screen, the Oppo A3 falls into the 19:9 aspect ratio category. At the bottom, we have a single speaker grille, a Micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone socket.
The SIM tray is placed on the right, and can hold two Nano-SIMs and a microSD card (up to 256GB). On the back you find a single camera and the LED flash. The Oppo A3 uses the new MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC, which is the same one used in the Oppo R15. It’s based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, marrying four high-performance ARM Cortex-A73 cores with four power-efficient Cortex-A53 cores and has an integrated Mali-G72 MP3 graphics processor. The Oppo A3 comes with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.
The Oppo A3 ships with Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box with the companies ColorOS 5.0 UI on top. The rear camera has a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and the front-facing camera an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Battery life is one of Oppo A3 strong suits. The cell phone sports a large 3400mAh battery and you can expect runtimes up to 2 days.
